Game overview
Book of Dead is Play’n GO’s ancient-Egypt adventure video slot starring Rich Wilde, released on 14 January 2016. Its traditional five-reel, three-row layout combines character, pharaoh, animal and alphanumeric symbols, while the Book acts as both Scatter and Wild. The main feature is free spins: one regular symbol is selected before the round and expands across its reel when it can create an extra payout. This profile covers the original Book of Dead, not the GO Collect version with its additional collection system.

Traditional reels and symbol structure
The initial demo has five reels, three rows and ten selectable paylines. Regular symbols include characters and Egyptian images alongside A, K, Q, J and 10. Minimum match counts and payouts vary by symbol.
Regular wins are calculated left to right on selected paylines, with only the highest combination paid per line. Regular-symbol values use the line bet, while Scatters use the total bet. A paytable value therefore cannot be treated as a total-bet multiplier in every case.

Books form Scatter payouts anywhere and also act as Wilds in regular winning combinations. The demo paytable gives three, four and five Books Scatter payouts of 2, 20 and 200 times the total bet respectively, added to payline wins.
Three or more Books trigger ten free spins. These are an internal game bonus, not a platform no-deposit credit offer or an unconditional entitlement to ten spins on any operator’s site.

Before free spins begin, one regular symbol is randomly chosen as the expanding symbol for the round. Each spin first checks regular wins, then whether that special symbol can produce an additional win. If so, it expands across all three positions on its reel.
The official rules say expanding symbols need not occupy adjacent reels to form combinations on active paylines. However, a selected symbol does not expand unconditionally whenever it appears: expansion occurs only when it produces an extra payout.

Three or more Scatters during free spins add ten spins. The product text does not specify the cumulative cap or whether the expanding symbol is reselected after a retrigger in this version. Rules from similarly named spin-offs are not used to fill these gaps.
